amp went into protection mode?

i made my first installation yesterday everything seemed fine then after like 5 minutes the protection light came on the amp and i hear a thump ,thump constanly even when no song is on. i tryed again an hour later and the protection light is still on. im pretty sure i hooked everything up right. its a four channel amp going to 2 subs.i need some help.

Check your ground...i had the same problem with mine and everything was hooked correctly but when i checked my ground i forgot to strip the paint on the frame so it wasn't gettin what it needed....

yup. Before you check ANYTHING in your electrical system, make sure that your power, ground, and input leads are properly connected and so on

Double check the wiring of the subs and make sure that nothing came loose. The thumping is from the amp trying to turn ack on and checking its status and then turning back on because it found a fault.

ok i checked all the wires.the problem is i dont know where to put the rca cables into. I have 3 choices on the headunit. bus input,rear out,front out,. i have them plugged into the rear out. now going to the amp it has an 1 input for channel 1,1 for 2,1 for 3 and 1 for4. i dont know where to put the white plug and where to put the red plug. i have the amp bridged going into 2 subs. i turned the levels all the waydown. the protection mode went off for a little bit then came back on.please help

you sure your 4 channel amp is bridgeable to the load you have your subs wired to? most of the time 4 channel amps do not like being bridged past 2ohms usually..

...if you dont know how to wire your subs to different ohm loads, in all honesty you shouldnt be messing with car audio. Not to be mean or anything, but theres stickies with this kinda info at the very least.

He has a 4ch amp bridged to 2ch configuration.To each of the resultant bridged mono channels he has attached a single SVC 4 Ohm driver. He ought to be okay on that front.

Where is the amp grounded, jasonlee? Is it a solid ground? Bare metal solidly connected to chassis somehow??
