RCA's question

I want to run the front components off of a 2 channel amplifier, the rear speakers off of the headunit, and the rear sub off of of mono amplifier.

What kind of RCA cables am I going to need? a 2 channel cable for the fronts and another 2 channel cable for the sub?

Also, am i going to be able to retain the fader with this setup? I don't want to completely drop the rear fill, but I would like to fade the sound forward a bit.

Yes everything you said is correct. Provided your deck has front an rear outputs as well as sub outputs, you won't lose fader capability.
