Amp Tuning

have an Alpine 12' Type-R (500 watts RMS) in a ported box (not sure what its tuned to). Im running 480 watts to it via an Eclipse XA-1000.

Also have a JVC deck.

This amp has the tuning options op Low Pass Filter, Bass Boost, and Input.

The thing I want to know is what should i set my bass boost etc. to if I listen to primarily rap/hip-hop with pretty heavy bass lines. Any help provided is greatly appreciated because I am trying to get the most out of my sub without clipping or damaging it.

Currently have it set to 6dB on the bass boost, full on input, and full on low pass filter.

your lowpass filter should be on LP not full, and you should only have a very little bit of bass boost... bass boost makes your sub sound like a fart in a bucket.
