Amp To Power A Single JL 13TW5-3

I don't think anybody has done slim like JL did, really ****ing intence technology behind all the stuff
X2....but he is newer to this and may not appreciate the sound and technology yet. Seems like a tad overkill to me *shrug*. Could alway start with a cheaper sub.

The PG amp is great though. I put one in my sisters car awhile back and its still surviving the hell she puts her stuff through like a champ.

Yeah. I've never bothered getting this in depth wth car audio. For the past like 9 vehicles I've had, I just let my dealer/installer do whatever he thought was best for me. The most I ever did was price shop him. After doing so twice I never bother to do it again. He was always very aggressive in price and has always done great work.

I've always wanted to get more into this stuff and now I am.

While I love cutting edge technology and I appreciate the W5 JL line...It's most appealing to me because I have very very little room behind my Sport Trac's rear seat. Ranging from about 4 inches at the base to about 3 at the top. My JBL1202D subs won't even fit behind the seat floating free of an enclosure lol. I've got no room at all!

I also want to upgrade in bass from my two JBL 1202Ds run of that JBL cs300.1. Everyone is telling me that a single 13TW5-3 running off 500w will blow the two of them away.

Fitting a substage into a tight area seems to be a common problem (or much more common than it used to be) as there are so many of them out now. I'm sure there is a running list of smaller subs that would fit your application. I'll try to find one of the threads.

Remember that installation is going to just as important (if not more so) than the equipment.

I think the PG amp would be a really good suggestion for the amp but let me see what I can find for slimline.

edit found some....woofersetc has a whole department of shallow mount. Page 2 (pioneers) starts to show some really thin subs)

So I'm torn between the JL500.1 amp, Alpine PDX 600.1 and that very well priced Phoenix Gold X600.1 amp.

The JL seems to have some pretty cool technology that makes it stand out above the rest I suppose.

Here is my next question:

Once I have a new amp to power my substage, can I somehow use my old 300.1 to power my front stage?

Should I just upgrade my 60.4 to something more powerful also?

I really didn't want to get into this right now but I may as well get some of my questions cleared up.

Man do I feel dumb for asking the question in the post above.

If I understand this correctly, using the mono block to power a front stage would only power one side, thus making it pretty much useless for a front stage amp?

Hows this sound for a setup?

Focus on SQ & space issues.

Front Stage:

Alpine 9883 HU

Hertz ESK 570 component set.

JBL CS60.4 Front Stage Amp

Sub stage:

JL Audio 13TW5-3 (Sealed .83)

JL Audio 500.1 Sub Stage Amp

I'd have the enclosure mounted on the rear wall behind the back seats.

I'm thinking of putting the amps on a custom rack aside the sub enclosure so they can get more airflow. I'm afraid that when the rear seats are in the cargo position they would significantly decrease the amount of airflow availible to the amps.

My truck has stock tweeter mounts so hopefully the aftermarket units will fit. Otherwise I'd need to find a different tweeter. I'd like it to look as OEM as I can other than the HU.

It should like nice and stealthy.

Opinions?

The JL will do the exact same thing as the Phoenix Gold-- Reliably supply 5-600w of power. All the freaking bass boost and xovers and stuff are pretty much superfluous. Save yourself some coin, and skip the JL amp.

My 13tw5 came in yesterday (375 used)... I'm powering that and my 6 speakers with a Fosgate 25 to Life power 1000 amp from sonic electronix (475) supposed to be in tomorrow! Space isnt so much an issue, I have it by the tons in my Saab 93 hatchback, but I decided id rather keep that space, so for now im putting the 13tw5 in the boot, maybe in the future ill add another in the opposite boot
