Amp to power 12" Type R

Okay, my friend is getting rid of his Audiobling setup and buying a single 12" Alpine Type-R sub that is going into a sealed box in the back of his 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

We are having trouble deciding which amp to buy to power the sub. Also, we are debating whether to go with a Dual 2 or Dual 4 sub.

Amp 1: Power Acoustik PS1-2000D

Amp 2: PowerBass ASA-1000.1D

Which of these amps will be better? I've never used either brand, but I have heard nothing but good things about them.

okay. I'm talking to my buddy and we are definitely going with the PA 2000D.

I think we are going with a Dual-4 though, running at 900RMS. the dual four gives us the option to add a second sub later and wire down to 1ohm

I don't want to risk giving the sub 1200 RMS, that thought scares me a little. I will set the gains with a DMM at 850-900ish with the sub wired at 2 ohms

sounds good.......good luck with the install

yeah, we are in college about 2 hours from home, so we won't do the install for a couple months probably. I will put a build log on here when we get started. This thing is gonna thump, I am so pumped to get on it.

right......but you are also running 4 type-r's. I think 900RMS is plenty for this setup, and if need be we can always up that to 1200 on 2 subs. Even sealed this thing will be loud. With a sealed setup in an SUV, would up firing or rear firing be better?

sealed R's are not loud.
