hey, i just got a 12jlw3v2. got a cheap visonik 400 x1 2 ohm mono amp. its all wired at 2 ohm. turn it on theres pop noises also when turning off. and the amp is so hot that u cant hold ur hand there for 5 seconds(is it normal). and the amp will shut off if i turn the volume over 20. the amp gain is half way so is the hrtz.

use a multi meter to set the gain, just because its half way doesnt mean that your not potentially ****ing somthing up..i usually keep my sub crossovers at 120hz. and what config are the w3's i didnt think they made them in dual 2 or single 4 thought only dual 4

do your wiring correctly and make sure its not grounded out or anything is backwards. If that doesn't fix it, toss your amp and buy a new amp, something worthwhile instead of that garbage you have now.

sounds like you have a bad ground with the popping issue, and with it getting hot, what impedence is your sub wired to, and what size power and ground wire are you running. you may be working your amp to hard, and striving it for current, or to low of an impedence

Use that DMM to check your ground.

hey, i think the popping noise is definitly form the ground wire cuz it was like that with my old system. im probably going to buy a new amp. since mysub is dual 4 ohm, would it be better to buy a 600 watt 2 ohm mono or a 600 wat 2 channel 4 ohm? thanks for the help guys.
