ok i just got my 12w7 and now ill looking at amps to go with.....would this be a valid amp or would this one **** my sub up??? says 1 ohm stable and the w7 is 3

AUDIOPIPE 1000W AMP 1 CHAN CAR MONO CLASS-D AMPLIFIER ..........that is the amp

That amp would only make 500W or so into a 3 ohm load. That's what ***** about running a single 3 ohm sub. Good old school 4 ohm stable amps won't work, and new 1 ohm stable amps don't put out much power to that load. You're pretty much stuck with the 1000/1 for a really good match for a single W7

300W x 1 @ 4 Ohms (RMS)

700W x 1 @ 2 Ohms (RMS)

1000W x 1 @ 1 Ohm (RMS)

those are the specs on it (reliable source) ...and your telling me that wont do the job

That Audiopipe won't give enough power to it at that impedance to really make the W7 sound good.

a DECENT 2 channel amp can run @ 3 ohm bridged, or just get ones that are 1 ohm stable. I know the JL 1000/1 does 1000 watts from 1~4 ohm so if you have the money then go with that.

See if you can find an old-school USA-1000x or a Kicker ZR1000 or a Rockford Punch Power 800a2 or 1100a2.

The W7 is a single 3 ohm coil correct? If so, that amp will likely only give it about 500W. Kind of pointless getting a sub like that to throw only 500W at it, and not even a GOOD 500W at that. ITT: spend 650$ on a sub then cheap out on an amp.

we told you it was a bad choice in sub. part of it being the limited number of amps that will work well with it.

that said. the 1000/1(since you have a hard on for jl) and apparently dont care about value....

or the alpine already mentioned will probably be your best choice.

You have a blown cap in the amp more than likely. Had the same thing happen to a soundstream amp.
