amp switches to protect when the sub bumps too hard... need help

So i've had this problem for a while where my amplifier will have a very soft output and when it gets to a certain point, the led will switch to protect and stay like that until i shut my car off.

Earlier today I upgraded my power and ground wire to a thicker gauge and I still have the same problem. I also tried it with another amp and it did the same thing.

Anyone have any suggestions? is more information needed?

I'm fully aware it's not the greatest... but it used to work ten times better than it is now.

Originally I had the 600 watt dual in my car so i had a power wire that was rated at 680 watt rms max, but when i got the scosche everything worked well for a while. when i put the dual in i accidentally ran the power wire over the exhuast pipe leading out of the engine so it melted to it... that's why i assumed that getting a new, thicker gauge power wire would solve my problems.

Are these signs of a blown amp? if they both do the same thing than doesn't that mean that it's either the head unit or the subwoofers? any ideas of things i could try would be greatly appreciated (other than driving my car off a cliff).

You may have the subs wired down to an ohm load lower than the amp is stable at. Your alternator or battery may not be supplying enough power. Or you may not have a good enough connection somewhere in your power wire or ground wire. Those are the first things i would double, or triple check.

you maybe just clipping your amp!!!!

Try & turn your gains down on your amp.

Wiring into what ohms does your amp start to over load??? .5-1-2???

read the manual, it will give you more info about your amp.

If you have your bass boost turned up, then turn it down as well.

is your amp 24-18-12 slope???

where are you xovering the subs over @????

just recheck everything, your amp is telling you that it doesnt like however you have it setup
