Hi, I'm new to all of this and I need help picking out an amp. I just recently bought some speakers to replace my stock ones. I got the Diamond Audio d361 up in front and the Clarion srr6985 in back. Right now I'm running them on my sony head unit. Any suggestion on what amp would be good to run these speakers? I was thinking about sticking with Diamond Audio, but if there's something else out there that's better let me know.

Thanks

Well, your thought about staying with DAT certainly isn't a bad idea. Diamond's amps are nice, reliable as a rock, and they look decent. The main drawback, obviously, is they can be pricey.

There's several ways to go about it. Some here might suggest that rear fill is not completely imperative, at best, and a complete waste of money, at worst. I reckon it's a matter of preference. What sounds good to you might not equate to what sounds good to another.

If rear fill isn't completely important to you a solid 2-channel to power your front stage while driving the rear from the HU could save you some money over a 4-channel. If you want all of them amped then a 4-channel would obviously be the best bet. What's your budget? I reckon something around 60~70wpc would suit your needs fine.

Yeah I thought about just powering the front speakers only. My budget right now is around 400.

$400 budget to power just a set of 6" Diamonds...

That leaves heaps of leeway. I don't think you'd need to spend near that much if you didn't want to. It's all up to you, really.

You could go as cheap as the Profile AP400 (65w X 2 @ 4 ohms).

You could go with a Kicker KX250.2 (85w X 2 @ 4 ohms)

You could go with the DAT but they don't really have a two channel that would be appropriate for your application. You could go with a D3400.2 which is 100w X 2 @ 4 ohms and be careful with the gains - that'd be okay.

It's all about what you wanna do, man. The possibilities of amps you could use is a long and involved one. Ultimately it's your stereo so my best suggestion is buy something that you can reasonably assume will be reliable that outputs wattage suitable for whatever you're driving with it.

Good luck with it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks a lot, I'll look into those amps.

Hey, what do you think about the Phoenix Gold Xenon X100.2

I just went ahead and got the Diamond D3400.2. Hopefully it arrive soon so I can install my system already.
