amp Suggestion?

I would appreciate suggestions on what amps individuals would recommend for a single 10inch sub in sealed enclosure. The sub is nothing special just a Polk db 1040 4 ohm DVC with a RMS power rating of 275w and peak of 580w. This is to add a little base from the trunk in a 67 camaro. Not looking for spl just something that will run this sub and not stress which ever amp one recommends to overheat? If this is possible.?

Thank you.

I recommend looking at an old school amp to save some money, and to deliver some power as well. You can find one with a DB rating of 100-105,with a distortion level of 0.01%,and at 12v that will be easy on your electrical system ..such as an Autotek 7050,Hifonics Vulcan/cyclops/pluto/.Just about any old school amp that will be rated at 2ohm stable /or new amp like the Sound Streams are nice and specs look good to me.The 2ohms stable bridged will get the most out of that sub for you:D,for everyday usage in my opinion.Keep in mind..old school wattage was severely underated.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I was running a JL 10w0 (125 w rms) on two separate amps at different times: kenwood KAC-608S(bridged) and a Kicker zx300.1 and it hit very well. I'd recommend the Kicker.

Thats a decent amp for that sub,and a really nice price too.The distortion is high , but its a sub, and in the trunk,so SQ wouldnt be a factor.??IMO..That would work just fine,, and it has a 2yr warranty.. nice find:D plenty of power for that sub

A US Acoustics USX 4080 on e-bay for 49.95 shipped???Good old school amp, and if yo upgrade, that amp will be great for mids and highs as well??Just a suggestion to you??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Whats your budget by the way?? $200 and under??Seems that rubicon are better specs as for the new amps. That US is a real good amp compared to these IMO,and would be better. But that first one was good to me, and i like the last Tx2.500, but on a budget, and bang that us will pound that sub without any issues, and its at 12v rating, and is small footprint/space saver. What I recommend with the amps chosen, and my opinion of course. You might even check the classifieds out as well. Its all about what you want.. keep in mind not to blow the sub with too much Power, and bigger isnt always better??/I have a 44 watt amp that will pund the crap out of that sub,and have recently put it on a 600rms 4ohm dvc 10, and at 12oclock gain, shakes the entire single cab truck and moves my pants leg just outside the door????OLD school for you at 2ohms,and its the size of half a sheet of paperat 2in tall???

A JL 250/1 would be perfect for it, and a steal at 100 bucks. I would never run anything but JL slash or HD amp for a sub after owning and hearing one. They are so precise it's not even funny. I honestly can't believe how sh*tty it makes all other amps sound.

Thank you Audiobaun for your input. I have already purchased a MB Quart Q 150.4 to run the front and rear channels. One set of audison 6.5 High energy component and am looking at a second set of 5 or 6.5 slim design coaxial for the front. The 10 inch sub was an after thought and things just seem to be growing! Funny how that happens. As mentioned i am not into spl but want a nice sounding rounded system to listen to rock music in my 67 rsss camaro. It has been a while since i was into this and had always run Alpine in the past 1980 but i am not pleased with there amps today. I prefere to purchase new as one never knows what they are getting used and how long it will last! One might get lucky and again one may lose big time.

The Us amp i have dropped an email to him based on your comment and the fact that this guy services amps for a living and stands behind what he sells and has 100% feedback. if you believe this is a much better amp over the others i will listen. As far as $ amount i figured $200.00 was what i wanted to spend on a single amp dedicated to just one 10 inch sub. There are no plans to add anything more in the way of subs as i do not want to fill up the trunk space with speakers! I may switch out this sub but not with a 500w rms model as i do not believe it is required given the application, trying to be conservative as one can get carried away. The small foot print is also a nice benefit but i can incorporate a larger amp size if i need too?
