Amp suggestion

I have currently narrowed down my long awaited search for a mono amp to two. Either the JBL 300.1 or 600.1. It is going to power 1 JL audio W6 AE 10" that requires 300 watts rms. I am not looking to over power the sub, just get it the power it deserves. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

that sub is dvc 3 ohm right? So if you go with the jbl300.1 you get a 1,5 ohm load which would work nicely.

That is what I will be running it down to. Or it could go up to 12ohms. I was thinking that the 300.1 would be enough, but I just wanted to make sure. Thank you very much for your help.

How do you figure 12 Ohms...if it's Dual 3, you can either get 1.5 or 6 Ohm

It is actually a 6ohm dvc sub that I will be running in a parallel config to make better use of the 2ohm amp option. (Unless I am bass ackwards) So it can either run 3 ohm or 12 ohm.

The 10W6Ae is a 6 OHM DVC sub. So u have the option of a 3 or 12 ohm load.

I would go with the JBL 300.1. It will give it plenty enough power. The 600 would be over powering the sub. The 300.1 will give it the RMS that you need.

Once again, thank you very much for your help. Now it is just time to save up a little bit more and get the 300.1 and the 80.4 and begin my first fiberglass install on my Grand Am. I do appreciate all the help that you have given me.

No, am going to go with a sealed box. I really want to have a clean sounding enclosure and it will also allow me to fiberglass a small enough enclosure that will allow me to keep my trunk. I got the sub for less than $70 and I am going to be fiberglassing on the rear side of the trunk.

I was going to say, bandpass boxes are very difficult to build right. I am not a big fan of a bandpass box.

how much power would the jbl 300.1 put out at 3 ohms?

Well it puts out about 150 at 4, and 300 at 2 ohms, so I will say somewhere about 225 at 3ohms. (RMS)

Well, once again, thanks for everyone's input. I am going to get the JBL 300.1 and the 80.4 for my fronts. I plan on getting the fiberglass and begin building my enclosure as soon as I have some time (military and Papa John's takes up a lot of my time right now). I plan on building the enclosure first and getting everything I need prior to picking up my my amps (4ga wire kit, 2 distribution blocks for my power and ground, and mdf to build my ring and amp rack). It has been a long time since I have done installs and I am looking forward to this project. Next, will be to install a similar setup in my Grand Cherokee. I am just hoping that fiberglass is as much fun as it looks.
