Well, I finally installed my new mono amp for my subs. But the Amp is way to powerful for these subs, so a few people told me to wire these two ways to help not blow the subs...

1.hooking up the - of 1 sub to the + of the other sub

2.then hook up the + of 1 sub up to the + of the amp

3.hook up the - of the other sub to the - of the amp

and

1. positive of each sub to positive of the amp.

2. negative of each sub to negative of the amp.

I wired both ways, and both ways theres hardly any bass at all. So I come here to ask you experts, see if i can get more suggestions and help.

System:

Hifonics XX-ZEUS Mono D Block 1600watt amp.

2 Rockford Fosgate 12' 400watt 4ohm/Single Coil Subs (Boxed)

just wire them in parallel, from the sub box use the + to the + on the amp and the - to the - of the amp then the other sub the same on the other channel i used to have those subs before, when wired in parallel they hit nice;)

I thought i did do that already, and they weren't hitting. I'll try again. Yeah for the past year i had them bridged on 2 channels of the MTX amp there, only 200watts, but hit hard surprisingly. Think these subs are going on 4, 5 years old, still in mint condition heh.

Well i re-wired to parrelle again, and the bass still isn't hitting hard. Maybe its the amps settings, i must have hit something while i was screwing it up to the board.

Fixed.

Most likely you haven't set the gains correctly.

the rms rateings on subs dont mean a thing, just a pointer..u give the sub what it can take, not how much it says...if u think ure overpowering them turn the gain down, listen to it for a couple of days then turn it a lil up...repeat the process when u feel they are done:)

Thanks for the tips, how can i tell their on the verge of being blown? Like i said, i have 1600wat amp, 400wat subs (wired parallel). They start to sound flat/fluttery or pop/cracking noise?. Right now they sound perfect, been messing with the amp settings all day, they bump, just dont want to blow them before i buy new subs. Think i need to get some foam installation for the trunk, there's alot of rattling now than before.

Don't listen to him. Set the gains accordingly.
