Amp/Sub turns off when bass/volume is raised to a point?

I just recently installed a amp and sub into my car, everything works fine...but when i turn the bass or volume up to a certain point the amp and sub completely shut off until i restart my deck. Could this be that my amp is too weak?

Amp: Clarion APX2120 - 120 watts

Sub: Crunch GTS 10D4 - 500 watt max 10"

Deck: JVC KD-S24

The amp and sub are mounted in the trunk, ground wire is attached to a suspension bolt.

make sure you have a solid ground maybe the ground is loose .
