So a few weeks ago, my subwoofer stopped outputting any sound. I figured ok probably time for a new sub as I have had this one for quite some time, been beating the hell out of it. Its a 12" Alpine type R DVC 8 ohms wired in parrallel for 4 ohms. My amp is an Alpine MRP-M500. I know its only like 300 Watts RMS at 4 ohms but it still sounded **** good for all I cared. So back to the issue, I was driving and it just shut off. I didnt have time to deal with it so I kept driving for the next few days when suddenly, I had bass again. Because of this, I ruled out the possibility of it being my sub because as far as I know, subs dont cut out like that. That sounds more like an amp thing to me. So I read around online before just buying a new amp at some possibilities on as to why this may be occuring. Someone suggested check the AGU fuse I have in a waterproof holder. To do that I just bypass the fuse with some different wire. This was easy to do since the car is a BMW and has the battery in the trunk. Well after trying this the amp wouldnt come on with both fused and unfused wires. If I pull the power away from the battery the amp power light would come on! Then it would slowly fade away. No light with all wires connected but then temporary light if I remove the power! Anybody have any ideas before I pull the trigger on a new amp? Thanks!
