Amp staying on when car is off?

Sounds like you have the remote activation input on both amps connected to a power source that is constantly hot rather than being triggered either by the HU turning on and off or a circuit that is controlled by the ignition position.

ok i think i know what happened

my power wire was touching something because when i moved it i heard a pop from the subs and then the amps turned off. i turned the car on and now they work as normal. the wire it was touching was a very thin gray wire.

is this bad? how can i stop them from touching? they are right next to eachother!

By making certain there are no loose wire strands exposed outside of where the wires connect to the various terminals on the amp.

Either cut the exposed wire really short (since it doesn't need to be 6" long to be able to make contact under that 3/8" terminal) or use some sort of wire terminal ends on your cabling or something akin to that.

ok i'm going to take it to the installer tomorrow, but if the wires touch while im on my way will it kill my amp? i know my speaker wires touching killed my amp before....

Good to see your back around prowler...hope everything is going well.
Sadly it isn't going to be longterm - I just had a couple of days with some 'Net access so, naturally, I had to come see what you guys were up to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Do you have an inline fuse on the power wire going to the amp? Or some other way of easily removing any possibility of power being fed to the amp until you have someone look at it?

If so then pull that fuse, remove the power cable from its connection to the battery, whatever needs to be done to eliminate the possibility of 12v power touching anywhere that it shouldn't until you can have your installer check it out for you.

you cant clean the wires up yourself? i mean disconnect your battery, easily remove your power wires, then take and twist them up as best you can, get some cutters and trim the strands that are stray, then put them back in their place, make sure its all tight n secure, then reconnect your battery...sall good homie..

one thing you will learn quickly, if your going to be in car audio, DIY is a must...

find where your remote wire is run from front to back..install a switch on it. when you get it, flip power on. when you get out, switch the power off. becomes habit. had it in my truck for a while

x3240234 on the learn to do it yourself

it turns out it isn't the wires touching.....it was the power cable. Whenever I move the cable slightly it turns off/on my amps. I'm not disconnecting the cable, i'm just moving it around very slightly. I woke up to a dead car this morning because my amps stayed on over night. I checked before I went to bed and they were fine, but when I got up my battery was toast. Ill try jumping when I get home, and im going to buy a yellow top under the hood.
