amp started smoking???

I would check to make sure you really have that thing wired at 1ohms and as for it smoking there are a number of causes. Did you have the vehicle started when you first tried it. Not having enough voltage to one will pop it. . .

at first, i checked the voltage with a dmm, and it read 2.?? volts, so i checked the fuse it was blew and i replaced it.....now the meter read 12.83 (not cranked)...and after cranking the car and turning the volume up, the amp started smoking....(and according to the rockford fosgate wiring wizard thing, his dual2ohm sub was wired at 1ohm)

Hmm...sounds like the power supply fets have let out the magic smoke. Not a good thing, seems like it would have went into protect mode before actually catching on fire but then again ive seen and heard of weirder things such as my friends VR1000D blowing power fets left and right yet still playing till the very last one blew effectively turning off the amps power supply without ever going into protect mode. This happened twice before finally selling the amp to in fact get a Hifonics BX1605D
