alright well try this, when the gain is set too high (knob turned far to the right) it will start to clip, causing an increase in output, but to keep it short, its very bad. Inorder to set it correctly start with the gain verylow, the hu volume a little above the middle, and play a song you know well. slowly turn the gain up until you hear what you think may be distortion(where the sub sounds like poop) then back it down a little bit. I think you are just really pushing that amp too hard, when i got my first amp it was a jensen and i had hte gain all the way up, because i thought the gain was a volume knob, which it isn't. Mine cut out all the time. Your problem does not lie in the electrical system, so don't worry about dropping lots of money on this problem.
