Amp Settings ?

Ok..After asking many questions, descisions and obviously expenses i have been able to get a hold of these components (or will have them very soon).

1. Alpine 9805 HU

2. US Acoustics 4085 (4ch amp)

3. Front: Infinity REF 505CS Components (will be connected to ampCh1,2)

4. Rear: alpine 1329s (will be connected to HU)

5. Sub: Kicker c12 (connected to bridged ch3+4)

My main question is the amp contains many switches and knobs (lowpass, highpass, flat, gain). I am new to this world of car audio and only have a small understanding of what these setiings are. I know they are someway of limiting what frequency the speakers recieve. The way my setup is constructed, what should my settings be ??, also what do you think ,should this system sound good??

Pete

let me just tell u that you have a good setup for a nice price.. congrats!!!

finally someone is smart and uses their money in a good way and doesn't have a system that cost more than the car, unlike my dumbass

The 505CS will be on channels 1 and 2.

You should put the MODE button in the out position for high-pass.

Then adjust the high-pass dial to around 80Hz as a staring point.

This only lets freq above 80Hz go to the 505CS components.

For the sub on channels 3 and 4

You should put the MODE button in the in position for low-pass.

Then adjust the low-pass dial to around 80Hz to start with.

This allows freq under 80Hz to go to your suwoofer.

Use the same musical passage to set up each part of the system.

This way your adjustments will be more acurate.

Since you are running speakers off your H/U you should start by turning

the H/U up until you hear distortion, then turn it down slightly so there's

no distortion. This will be the max volume position for the system.

Don't go past it, going past it creates distortion in your rear speakers.

With the H/U at it's newly found max volume position start to turn up the

levels on the amp. Turn them up until you get the mix you are looking for.

Just be sure not to turn them up too high and create distortion.

Further fine tuning of the high-pass freq, low-pass freq and levels will be

neccesary to achieve best sound.
