I have a PPI pc1800.2 that burned out. I haven't opened it yet to see what fried but it's definitely dead.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place down in Glendale or LA or even OC that knows where I can get it repaired?

It's a sexy amp and I'm not willing to let it go.

No we are full. I have enough work here for 2 months...

I have been referring to Sam. MakeshiftAudio (pm him here) or email AudioRX@cox.net

I imagine he is pretty swamped though, I have been sending him about 3-4 repairs per day for the last 2 weeks... LOL....

Due to so many requests, Zed has opened a full time repair and refurbishing department. We do repairs on all makes of amplifiers, equalizers and crossovers. Many of you who have and have recently purchased "old school" amplifiers wish to have them brought back to their original working condition. We do this in addition to upgrading the amplifier for improved performance. The degree of upgrades depends entirely on the particular amplifier and the needs of the owner.

PM: emperorjj1 or call 505-524-5963 (ask for Jacob or Sergey)

They're shop is KB Audio in Las Cruces, NM.

Guaranteed to be the cheapest, fastest, and best quality work anywhere! I, myself, along with ssackett, RidnClean and many others on here have sent countless amps to them.

****, did someone say KB Audio... LOL haven't heard that one in a while... I have talked alot with Sergey in the past, but it's been at least a year if not more.... LOL. He is a sharp tech and I know they have a bad reputation online but he swears it won't happen again. If some of you have had recent good results then that is excellent. Glad to hear it.

And Stephen Mantz, Hell yeah, glad to hear you guys are ready to make some money doing repairs. I got a VLX-400 here with ya'lls name all over it if you want to repair it..... Can send some old school stuff your way for sure.

Yeah...KB Audio. I know what you're tallking about too. A few years back Sergey was partners with a guy that screwed him over big time with a bunch of money and products. Long story short, but Sergey had to take the hit once the guy split. I never knew about them from back in the day, but got referred to them about 2 years ago for repairs. I won't go to anyone else, and many on here have since started using him again too.

They don't like to advertise too much for themselves, but I rep the shit out of them. They are local to me (somewhat) and I have met them personally. Sergey is one of those sevants you find once in a while that is like a computer. Audio is his side job, and he is an EE for the U.S. Military at the age of 27 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Like I said, Sergey is a sharp tech no doubt. I have talked alot with him. He actually approached me, which suprized me.

That's awesome to hear about Zed doing more repair/refurb work.... I am excited. Stuff I don't have time for here, like my old Orion 2250SX and my VI Colossus, all these people who call me wanting their old schools repaired... some of them I do not mind and I stock the parts, others I flat out do not want to work on. Maybe if I wasn't swamped with commercial repairs already, but man, when I start taking repairs from just anyone with any kind of amp, it's like I opened the floodgates up.... Will be nice to have a couple reputable places to refer people to if I don't want it. I get lots of calls everyday... drives me nuts, I have burned myself or shocked myself trying to answer the phone while working....

ehh... dude fubared my Orion HCCA 275G4 after 2 repair attempts. Thing squealed like a pig from the power supply just by turning the amp on. Whoever stole it from me can deal with it now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I was really hoping to find a guy in Cali. Cuz I really wanted to talk to the guy and see what was wrong with my own eyes and know what kind of repair was done. Does anyone do estimates?

LOL.. good luck with that... There are hardly any amp repair shops anywhere anymore. Some stereo shops have a half-assed tech in the back room that calls hisself an amp repair guy but they don't always know much about what they are doing and screw up more than they fix... Don't risk it with your amp. That goes for TV Repair shops too, they are good at TV's, amps are not necessarily their specialty. I get all kinds of stuff sent to my shop from other shops and I can't believe some of the crap work that I see.

Your best best on that amp is either here, or Zed. We are full, so send it to Zed. In case you don't know Zed Audio is Stephen Mantz, he is a legend in car audio amplifiers. Designer and builder of the original HiFonics amps way back in the day, like mid 80's or longer ago even... He is awesome. Especially with your old-school amps.

Alright I see where you're coming from on that. So would there be a way to get an estimate on how much it would cost to get it repaired without spending the 80bucks to ship it out to the shop?
