I've been running a set of CDT EF-61i components off of an old Rockford Fosgate 4.6x amp for a couple of years. The amp is bridged and puts out 120 watts at 4 ohms. I've been fairly satisfied with this setup but have always felt the amp was not as clean as it could be. It sounds a little harsh when pushed.
I'd like to replace the amp with something a little stronger and cleaner but I'm afraid of going overboard. Oh, and I'm cheap. I've come up with 3 choices that I think are really good deals, but I'm worried they might be a little too powerful for these speakers. What do you guys think?
Kicker ZX350.4 - 175 Watts x 2 @ 4 Ohms
Rockford Fosgate P450.4 - 225 Watts x 2 @ 4 Ohms
Eclipse EA4000 - 150 Watts x 2 @ 4 Ohms
CDT EF-61i Specs:
* 6.5" 2-way
* Midrange: 6.5" Cast Carbon Treated Paper Cone
* Crossover: 560 crossover upgrade
* Tweeter: 3/4 in. Silk/Metal Dome
* Power handling: 120 watt RMS
* Frequency response: 55-20kHz
* Sensitivity: 91.9 dB
* Impedance: 4 Ohm
* Surface & flush mount tweeter
