Amp recommendation req

Hi,

I have a Accord sedan with the stock head unit (EX6MT) and Infinity Kappa speakers in the stock door and rear deck locations (I like the stock look)

I'm, ahem, OLDER, so I'm not looking for 140dBA at 20Hz or anything like that. I'm planning on augmenting what I have so far with a sub and amp using speaker level inputs (stock head unit). I'm planning on building a .75cf sealed trunk box and installing a single Infinity Kappa 102.7W.

I have been away from the car audio scene for quite some time and I'm looking for an amp recommendation. Not looking for the best of the best, but don't want junk either. The Visonik 702 has the right features, but I understand it's crap. I need a mono unit with at least 300 watts at 4 ohms, speaker level inputs, and a low pass filter. Any recommendations? Audiobahn A8005DN? Alpine MRD-M605 V12?

Thanks much.

Wow, you have been out of the game for awhile....not making fun...just noticing.

Heya, metzbd!

Welcome back to the world of car audio.

As far as an amp goes, I highly recommend the Infinity Reference 611a. At 4 Ohms it does 400+W RMSx1.

I have the same amp that has been pushing subs for 2 years now in my daily driver and have never had a problem. At Woofersetc.com, you can get a new one for under $200, shipped. That's a great deal! I paid $400 for mine in a retail store.

Infinity is a great brand with a great reputation and reliable products.

As far as your head unit is concerned, perhaps you wait until a local retailer offers free installation for head units. You can get a decent one for $100-$150. I suggest getting one with a front auxillary input and possibly a USB port, so you can play most MP3 players through your stereo and not have to mess with CD's or tapes.

As far as a low-pass crossover/filter is concerned, I believe most sub amps have them built in. If I am wrong, please correct me.

In any case, best of luck to you!

Thanks for the info, guys. I pulled the trigger on a Kicker 350.2 and I'm just about to pick up an Infinity 122.7 and Kicker 8 ga wiring kit. Will be nice to fill in that bottom octave:D I'll do a ~1CF sealed box myself.
