Amp Recommendation please!

Hey J,

I was reading about the PRS-X220 you recommended... the maximum is 225, and that would be almost double the RMS (120)... I don't mean to be annoying, but you did say that it puts out double, and maybe you were talking about the max. however, I want something that'll push pretty hard. A max of 225 won't do it! If someone out there has an Infinity 1220 W Sub as I described earlier in this thread, please let me know what amp your using! Thanks

I do have one of these subs- actualy I have four of them. I have two Kicker

KX800.4 pushing them. They sound real good. I did have one die on me yesterday though. Not sure what happened, just no sound all of a sudden. I realize since you are only looking to drive one of them you would not want a 4 channel amp, but thought this might help you get an ideal as far as wattage goes. I wouldn't want to put any more power than this to them. Especially since I had one quit. I have been using them for about six months now with no problems until now. The amps rated at 400 watts X2 with a bridged 4 Ohm load.

Basically that's 200x1 your telling me right? Thanks! I appreciate it

It would be 400 X 1. You could look for a two channel amp- which will more than likely be rated somewhere around 200 X 2 -then bridge it- which will give you 400 X 1- for use with your single sub. Keep in mind though- some of the makers of cheaper amps have a tendency to inflate the ratings of their amps. If you get an amp that puts out 400 actual watts you will have more than enough power for your sub. Hope this helps.
