Amp Protection mode

I searched the other threads..but nothing really helped me to much. I was driving down a straight/flat street listen to music and then the front speakers just cut out..and only the subs will play. The Protection light comes on for 5 secs then the green light blinks, then back to red. When the green light blinks on, the front speakers make a pop/crack sound..even when my volume is at 0 they still do it. When I unplug the RCA's from the amp the green light stays on. I have checked the fuse on the amp and the power wire..both intact. I messed with the gains..nothing. I haven't checked the ground wire..but It's in there really good..so I highly doubt that is the problem. I let the car sit for 5 hours..and its liek 70 degrees here..so it cant be a heat problem. I don't know why the speakers just cut out..I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary..no speed bumps..nothing to loosen any wires..

Here is my equipment.

Fronts:

2 Infinity Kappa 63.5i

Amp:

Power Acoutisk Gothic OV2-300

Any help is really appreciated..cuz I love my bump //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i would say its definantly the ground if you didnt say that part about the light stays green when you disconnect the RCA's. RCA's should have nothing to do with the power supply in your amplifier. i'd still say check the ground before you consider it fried. re-ground it somewhere else if it doesn't seem lose. if that doesn't help and your power wire and remote wire are connected at both ends, i'd say it's an internal problem.

shit..i'd have to take my **** seat out and all them **** wires...arrrrgg..I'm pretty sure its no the ground..**** it..how much does it cost to fix? or do i need a new one?

i'm far from an expert when it comes to amps. it depends on whats wrong with it. id say if you didn't pay much for the amp, you might as well just get a new one, because it's better than paying almost the amount as a new one and having to wait forever for them to send it back to you. you can bring it to a local shop and ask them to test the amp for you if you realy dont want to check your wires.

my friend had a problem that sounded exactly like yours and it was the ground. you may just need to ground it somewhere else, because some spots don't work as well as others. good luck.

Well I just got done checking the ground wire. Same ol shit...made not a **** bit of difference. I checked everything possible, wires, fuses, gain..nothing. I guess I'll have to buy a new one. I had my volume at 24 (alpine 9815) That is high for me..but I have played it that high many times before and not had a problem. So..unless anyone has some more suggestions..i'll be buying a new amp. I paid about $100 for this one..I'm looking to upgrade to a slightly more expensive one..I don't want this happening again.

I was hoping one of you guys could help me choose another amp, im looking to spend around $150.

The one I have now is;

Power Acoustik Gothic OV2-300

RMS Power at 2 Ohms 85 W x 2

RMS Power at 4 Ohms 70 W x 2

The speakers it will be powering;

Infinity Kappa 63.5i Car - Multi-Element Speaker

Power Handling 225W (Peak), 75W (RMS)

What do you think would be a reliable amp to power this speakers? My HU is an alpine cda-9815. Any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks

This is happening to me right now.

I think it's my ground though, my amp seems to be pretty cool to the touch. All my impedances are ok.

I am running a 4 channel, so all my music cuts out after about 30 mins of playin
