Amp protect when volume is turned up

Kicker line out converter, stock Subaru radio, kicker 600 watt (300rms) 4ohm 10", kicker 250.1 amp (125 watt RMS @4 ohms)

So with the volume turned down 1\4 volume, I can crank the gain and bass bass boost on the amp. Sounds good. More bass than expected. With the volume turned to 1\2 the amp goes into protection. Gain all the way down so no sound. Still protection. Different speakers do not matter.

So the amp will put out serious bass withe the volume e down. Turn it up with no bass and the amp goes into protection. This is my first time using a line out converter, connected at the back of the radio. I don't know what to do. Can't find anyone else that has had this problem. Thanks alot

To begin, that bass boost shouldn't be used at all. It's a good way to send a bad signal to your sub(s). And clipping which leads to heat which will result in a bad sub.

Turn the gain down a bit, leave bass boost OFF and see if that helps. You can use the sub w on the HU which might help.

sounds like it doesn't like the pre-amplified signal.

also you have an underpowered amp for that sub so it's trying to draw more current than the amp wants to give.

This is basically my thought too. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Only used the bass boost to see if I could get bass at the low volume. That tells me the amp is able to put out good power.

I know the amp is under powered for my sub. I did not think it would be a problem. As long as I don't crank up the gain and bass to try to reach the speaker limits. I'm trying to keep things pretty mild.

Every thing is brand new. The amp is refurbished. Maybe it has a problem? I will play with it more today.

the red/white wire and the white/red wire are not interchangeable. wired it wrong behind the head unit. my bad, problem solved
