the other day i went to get inside my car (it was raining) an when i got in my subs started making this poping sound so i turned my car off went to check everything the amp smelled like it was burning up so i unplugged everything an took it inside for the night this mourning i hooked it back up an it was working fine drove around the block an it cut out again with more burning smell i have no idea what could cause it to act like this

planet audio ap3000d its not really mounted it just layed in the back of my van 2 alpine type e's in bandpass box running at 2ohms

Sounding like that amp is pretty much done.... Be sure to mount the amp you replace it with somewhere solidly where it can not move around & won't overheat on you, I would also check your ground connection point(s) because inadequate grounding can really shorten an amps life, especially budget amps...
