Amp problems??

This isn't for me, a co-worker might have blown his amp and i gave him my input on the situation and figured before i gave him a solid answer i would check around. On to the task at hand.

Cliff Notes:speaker wires touched each other while powered, amp now stays in protect.

The other day he was driving and one of the speaker wires became disconnected, when he went to reattach them they made contact(still powered up) sparked, then went into protect mode. disconnected everything(don't know why) then hooked everything back up then when he powered the amp up it goes straight into protect. So is it blown??
