8'' subwoofer (old no name)

160 max watt Majestic ma-160hd amplifier (pretty old)

older pioneer deck

ok so i hooked up everything right (im pretty knowledgable in car electronics) but the protect light was on and the sub wouldnt play.... then i dissconnected it all and hooked it up again.

this time the sub plays but the amp heats up super fast. i unplugged it and let it cool down. i have no clue what to do.

the places to put wires on the amp are;

high level. speakers . \ Source \ pwr. \ on. \ 12

L+ \ R+ \L+ \ L- \R+\R- \ GND \ GND \ sen \ +

so theres 10 places. the local stereo shop said use source gnd not pwr gnd but the gnd current runs into the amp through the pwr gnd connection and runs out of the amp through the source gnd.

ANY IDEAS???
