Amp Problem?

I am having a small problem I just upgraded to a HO Alt. I have a Stinger Battery up front and a Kinteik in the trunk. I HAVE NOT done the big 3 yet but will be this week. My question is when I turn my stereo up my amp goes into protection its a Crunch GP 3000 Pro its not right away only when I turn it up a little over hal way. Is my problem the wiring will it help when I go to all 0 gauge?

what is your cars voltage?

if you don't have 1/0ga running to your amp i doubt it would cause the amp to go into protect. it would most likely just cause w/e size wire you have to heat up or pop a fuse(pending on rating).

check your speaker wire, could be a pinch.

Well my voltage is sitting at 14.2 and drops to about 13.6-13.7 while playing music. I have it fused going to the amp but its only a 150 amp fuse I think I need a bigger fuse. I will have 1 gauge in there this week though

well you definitely need a bigger fuse, and to do the big three but mid 13.6 shouldn't put the amp into protect. Was that voltage when the amp went into protect? If not keep playing with a meter on and see how low it goes when it goes into protect. If not voltage could be a bad ground.

Well in only goes into protect on the very deep low notes but I am using burnt CD's that may be a problem I am not sure but I know these amps can handle 17 volts all day thats why I am confused

If this amp is bridges that might be your problem, other than that I cant think of anything else besides that amp. Might be too old

Is the amp getting hot at all? Maybe the impedance is too low?

BTW, where did you get your alt and how much was it?

sounds more like a impedence issue.. what do you have the sub's wired up to.. what ohm stable is the amp?
