amp? power run?

I have had a shitty boss amp and 10' jl audio sub in my caprice since i got it. Its not the best, and its hooked to a cd player with no functioniong cd capabilities. Anyways, back in the day my amp was not secured, and when I would take corners it would fly around. This caused the power wire to come loose from the U ring which connected it to the amp. I didnt have another U ring that would work, so I tried to unclamp this one, and i put the power wire back in, and re-clamped that bish. I also duct taped my amp in place for lack of motivation to properly secure my shity temporary 'poundage' if you can even call it that.

So over time, I found out that the wire had to be in at certain angles for it to get power to the amp. After several trials, I found a good position and taped it there. Tonight i got bored and sick of the amp cutting in and out, so I went to cut an o ring into a u ring. That worked fine. I hooked it all up, no problems it played. Then I wanted to get a little more slack on my power cable because it was pretty taught. I pulled some of the excess from the engine compartment, all the way to the trunk. I electrical tape on it, and thought I would be set...NO GO

Light on the amp wont go on.

I tried taking power wire out of ring, putting the bare wire on the screw...

re doing my ground, re connecting power to battery, remote wire....

fuse looks good to me?

I dont know what to do and I really dont have money for a new amp what with the holidays rolling in with great haste...

Anyone can advise me on what to do?

(no baggin on my sh it setup - i know it sucks, it gives me very little bass, but this is a daily driver, and for now it works)

thanks for any help, ideas, questions, anything -

LD

this might sound dumb but did you double check your wire was hot? take a DMM and connect it to the your + and - to make sure they are both good and that you have 12volts

I dont have one at the moment - the shop is locked and I dont have the key right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

now that i think of it tho, the power did not spark upon screw contact - but i re connected it to the batt?!

does this mean i have a break or clamp in the wire run????

I guess I could just get some 0 ga so Its rdy for the next install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

lol edit - sorry for dbl - meant to edit

u said u had to have the power cable at a certain angle for it to get power to the amp? this makes it sound like its the power cable to blame. make sure its not torn, cut, or damaged in any way

yeah just check every inch of the power wire and look for any defects, then if you have a spare fuse replace it and see what happens. Then when you can get to a DMM check to see if your power wire is even live!

And, with all of the banging around you did on the amp, I'll bet the solder connection for the power terminal is bad. Sounds like you may need to open the amp up and check it if you've already used a DMM to make sure that you're getting voltage from the power cable.
