Amp power choice

I am going to be installing 2 10" subwoofers powered by a mono block amp at 1200 watt RMS. I have 2 choices.

1 - Get dual 2 ohm speakers and an amp that does 1200watt @ 2 ohms

or

2 - Get dual 4 ohm speakers and an amp that does 1200watt @ 1 ohm

With price and quality being simalar is there an advantage with one or the other.

Thanks Biker

normally the lower the impedence the less dampening factor and slew. If you can go with something that does that power range at a higher impedence and can afford it (thats the real question), normally the better off you are (in a general sense of course)

WOW I am confused. Is the statement above saying normally the 1 ohm system has less dampining and slew (A good thing?) but if you can afford the 2 ohm your better off?

What am I missing here?
