AMP light on, nothing from sub

All right, I just purchased a Soundstream Rubicon 1.700

Rubicon Amplifiers

It powers up, the white light on top of the AMP powers on. All wires are in the correct place. If I remove the remote it powers down after about 30 seconds. The subwoofer I have is a Kicker Solo Baric L7 12" (2006 model) - I wired it for 4OHM's as it shows on the owners manuel. It will not make a sound at all.

I have dual 2OHM coils, wired for 4OHM's according to this:

My AMP was supposed to come with a remote knob to control the volume from wherever I want in the car. Would it be possible for the AMP not to work unless it has that?

I just spent all last night and the night before troubleshooting this, but am still not entirely sure if my AMP is bad or if there is just something I am missing. All wires were checking out, got a buddys AMP to test on, it made my sub bump a bit, but it was nasty sounding, was a 900w Kenwood AMP. He also had 2 other JL subs (I think they are just w0's), but he thought they were blown, come to figure out his JL's sound exactly the same as my solo baric when connected to his AMP. But the fact that it got my sub to move, that's more than my Soundstream would even do.

I contacted the person I bought the AMP from, they are going to have me send it back... and I will tomorrow so they can test it. But I figured i'd come on here to ask, just incase I might be missing something and it could save me a ton of headaches and about two weeks of down time of having to wait for a new AMP. You would think if the AMP does not work, it wouldn't power on at all.

What do you guys think? Any input? It would be greatly appriciated.

if your not gettin any sound from the subs the rca input not working on the amp or if the amp stays on for a bit then shuts off somewere on the circuit bored may be fried u can resolder but i have a amp and it flashes on and off tried every way possible what i did was hook the remote wire direct to the power source and put a switch on it so i can turn the amp off.

Yeah, messed with the remote for about an hour trying different combinations. Came to the conclusion the remote works just fine. Guess I just have to wait untill I get the new AMP. Pretty annoying getting sent a dead product and having to waste more money on shipping to get a new one.
