Amp Killed battery and alternator twice

I have a 03 hyundai xg350l with a polk audio 400.1 and alpine mr300 installed in it. Since installing the two amps my battery has died and alternator has been replaced twice. When I connect the terminal to the battery sometimes it gives a lil arch is that normal? I replaced the alternator in march and battery last month the battery died again I took it to the audio shop they said the factory amp was bad I did a factory amp bypass then shortly the alternator dies on the car....I have disconnected the two amps now.

What can I do to fix this?

Yours is the OEM 120A alt?

Should be enough to run that system, so something else must be going on...

Sounds as though the alt is not fully/properly charging the battery, you have some serious wiring issues, or both. Not really enough info offered to be certain.

I would say that you need to do The Big Three, verify all your grounds, and ensure that the amp is wired well and gains set up correctly

The amp should not affect the alt like that. Dying regular staring batteries, sure, I had that problem until I bought an expensive AGM Deep Cycle Battery and upgraded my factory charging system wiring. no more problems with dead batteries from plate failure..

Where can I find a deep cycle battery and upgrade the charging system for my car? I looked on optima site they dont sell batteries for hyundais

with the system you described, 4ga wiring from the alt to battery, fused near the alt with 150A fuse (I am guessing your fact alt is 120A), 4 ga wire from batt to ground, 4ga wire from engine block to ground. I say 4 ga for what you currently have, If you upgrade to more power/bigger alt, then this wire would need to be upgraded accordingly.

Alright thanks alot....this was extremely informative....the two audio shops I took my car to said that upgrading the battery was not needed but I always felt that I needed a stronger battery....I just have a regular duralast battery in now....thanks again
