Well I have already made a few mistakes on this install and the biggest was probably having someone else do the wiring. I am error prone and was not real big on the idea of melting my car down to slag (although with gas prices right now, I might get better mileage...), but after seeing how easy it was, this is something I should have done myself.
Now when I turn on the car, the amp squeals at me for about 30 seconds before stopping/turning off(?). Seems to have stopped doing this, once I turned down the gains. It will still do this when I disconnect the battery. But bottom line, I do not think the amp is on when the car starts as I am getting no other output through the speakers.
Car is a '98 Grand Cherokee. Amp is a 4-channel Kicker KX850.4. Crossovers are probably at defaults. Stock headunit was wired inline, outputting to a mini-plug adapter. Music provided by a car computer with RCAs going to the amp. PC is definitely not the problem.
Sorry guys, it is not that I do not want to learn more about installation, it is really just that I do not have the freaking time. Molding in an LCD to my dash, extending the 19 tiny *** wires of my A/C control, fabbing a custom box for a minipc and dealing with the thousand little headaches of getting the computer set up really are ******* away any available free time I have.
Help my car make sweet music again!
