Amp in protect

I have a kole trax 5500D amp and it all the sudden went into protect mode, it acts like it tries to kick on it. It has the red light but the green light flashes in then back to red. I've checked ground and power and there fine and have disconnected all wires except, remote, ground and power and it still don't kick on. Any body got any ideas?

Disconnect the remote for a bit... If you have a buddy with a system drop it in his car to see if it will kick on...

Sounds like the output fets are dead, or the Class D contoller has died, or it can be a combination of both. The light trying to flash and the fuses not blown generally means the power supply is operational and trying to bring the amp up, but it is in over-current protect from the bad outputs or the Class D control circuit failing.

I tried putting it in my friends and the same thing happened, I think it dead. Thanks for the help guys

What subs did you have on it and what ohm was the amp seeing? Probably due to a bad electrical system and clipping

I had it running on pioneer premier 12s

This is a very common mode failure on Class D amps.

Ya if it did the same in a buddies it sounds like something failed...
