amp in protect mode, dont know why

Ive had a Nitro BMW-484 for about 7 months, and i unhooked it to hook up my new amp. now im going to sell it, but when i hooked it up again for my buyer to listen to it, it went into protect mode. It says in the manual that if its in protect mode, it could be either because it it overheated, or the speaker wire shorted. Well, i just bought new spkr wire a few weeks ago, and it worked fine, and it doesnt look burnt or anything, and the amp hasnt been hooked up for about 2 weeks so i knw it isnt overheating. i took the cover off, and nothin in the amp appears to be burnt or broken, so im lost. is there something that could be broken that isnt visible, or something else wrong with it?
