I need to purchase an amp to power 2 JBL GT4-10 subwoofers. I do not know much about amps and I need to know what type of amp I need.

The subwoofers specs are:

10" 1000W peak subwoofer

Power Handling, RMS: 250 Watts

Power Handling, Peak: 1000 Watts

Impedance: 4 Ohms

Should I be looking for a 4 Ohms: 250 watts x 2 chan. amp? Or if not what am I going to need?

Also, could you post an amp that you would recommend?

are they single ore dual voice coil?

It's a single voice coil and I'm not sure if it's a D4 or SVC4.

look for something thats 500 x 1 @ 2 ohms, alpine m500 is a good budget amp

SVC 4 means it single voice coil over 4 while D4 or DVC 4 means its double voice coil over 4. My amp is very suitable for you. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6598_Kicker+ZX850.2.html. it does 295 rms x2 @ 4 ohms. im selling it for 220 shipped

I am looking at the Visonik V408XT (v408xt).

The specs are:

1000 watts, 2-Channel Amplifier

RMS Power Output:

4 Ohms: 250 watts x 2 chan.

2 Ohms: 500 watts x 2 chan.

4 Ohms Bridged: 1000 watts x 1 chan.

Would this amp be able to do the job?
