Amp has power and is not in protection, subs don't hit

This morning I decided to turn up my gain a tiny bit, and the subs hit harder and sounded clean. I just took a ride around the block and all of a sudden on a heavy bass song, the subs cut out at my normal-high listening volume. I checked all the wiring and all looks good and removed the - on my battery and disconnected all my wires on my amp and reconnected them and still nothing.

Amp: JBL Crown Series BPX500.1

Subs: 2 JBL GT5-12 4ohm SVC

I know I was dumb for turning up the gain a little to high but I turned it back down and still nothing played.

Any help? I really hope I didn't mess up the amp

check all ur fuses to be sure u did not blow them. Check coils on sub to be sure you didnt blow them..

I checked all fuses except the 2 small ones going into the amp. While trying to remove those, they cracked. So not sure on the condition of those.

How exactly do I check the coils on the subs? I pressed in the middle of both and didn't hear any screeching or scratchy noise.

well if ur subs arent locked up or you didnt smell anything its not them..check your amp

Check my amp as in do what? All my connections are secure and I turned the gain back down to where it was before this problem. The amp is getting power but not going into Protection mode. I can't really do anything right now because I don't have any fuses for the amp so I will try to figure it out tomorrow.

You can also pull out the sub and check the coil to see if it is burned or blackened...had someone who blew the sub (burned the coil up) but the sub was not locked up.

I just killed a 10w3v2 D4 a little over a week ago, and there was no smell, no smoke, nothing. It was jamming, then it was dead. It looked almost brand new and the cone movement was smooth as butter, but both coils read open.

OP, if you have any other speakers laying around, you should be able to connect it to your amp to see if any sound is coming out of it. (At a low volume of course)

I just killed a 10w3v2 D4 a little over a week ago, and there was no smell, no smoke, nothing. It was jamming, then it was dead. It looked almost brand new and the cone movement was smooth as butter, but both coils read open.

Wow! thats crazy and scares me. I have some extra 5 1/4's laying around I'll try those tomorrow after I get my 30amp fuses

That amp is not 2ohm mono stable to wire up 2svc 4ohm subs,by the specs as I stated earlier on your other posting

Well, I feel like an idiot. I just pulled back the box today and from the angle I usually see it, you can't see if the wires are attached to the box. Well, the positive wire got disconnected -____-. So all is good now and put in the new fuses.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

here is what you do bro.....if u have a multi meter good if u dont buy one

set it to volts AC and turn ur system on....connect it to the speaker outs on the amp....if it gives u a voltage reading then your amp is working..if u get no reading at all while the amp is on then ur amp is done

now set it to ohms and connect it to the subs....if u get any wacky reading or no reading at all then your subs are fried
