Guess I posted in the wrong section last time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Lately my amp has been goin into protection mode. It mainly goes when I start hittin low and really fast like in Lil Jon's - Put your Hood up and in bass testers. When it does it, I either have to kill my engine or just turn my radio off for about 5 minutes. It normally doesnt do it unless ive been thumpin for about an hour or more. And the amp is hot as hell, like literally beyond being able to hold my hand to it. Just a couple other things, I may have my RCA cables crossed (this just hit me as I was writing it) and my crossover may be set a little high, around 90-100. Ive already gotten a couple answers to this but I just want a couple other people's opinions. And if they do come up the same, I need a little bit of elaboration on how to fix it from what I was told the first time.

i have the same problem to for my 2000 watt legacy amp it likes to turn off when i try to crank my subs up really high an i think yours goes into protect cause it gets to hot and needs to cool off

Well, I do indeed have my bass cranked pretty high...

My setup is that my amp is squeezed between my box and my back seat. No ventilation at all. Would facing the subs into the back seat help this PLUS possibly reducing trunk rattle on top of that?

build an amp rack... use a relay off of your remote turn on to power a blower. Maybe even take the heatsink off, immerse it in oil, use a peltier to cool the oil, put LEDs in it to light the whole deal up, and use plexiglas on top.

that would work pretty nicely.

wat do u expect, any amp continous beating over a hour is either gonna blow up,or go into protect mode,u ought to be glad it went into protect, thermal shutdown.
Ehh...Well, I guess I know now. I'm still all new to this and I like to thump them as hard as I can for as long as I can. Guess I'll tone it down a notch. Im sure all the guys in the dorm wont mind either.

I cant tell if you kidding or not about the oil. But I would like to go ahead and build a blower for it if thats possible.

lol... i'm being sarcastic in that doiing what i said would be TOTALLY overdoing it... it would probably work though. and it would look pretty nice too...

but yeah, an amp rack + blower is the way to go on this one. you could even use a water misting type setup spraying into the blower to lower the temperature inside the rack below ambient lol...

But as for a water cooling system. I was thinking that If I keep my amp out of sight, I could run something that like you put into computers. You pretty much just coil a tube of water around the main compents that heat up and it helps disapate(sp) the heat from them. Was thinking about working something like this, but Ill just have to try a blower first. Off to learn how to hook these up now.
