Amp going into protect mode?

I have a Hifonics BXI 2000D and for some reason occaisionally it will go into protect mode for no apparent reason. I have checked all the connections, everything looks good, I just can't figure it out.

Here are the only two things I could possibly think of...

Could a remote wire cause it to go into protect? The RMT wire coming out of my radio had a female speaker connection on it. Instead of cutting the connection off and using a crimp connection I just jimmy-rigged it and covered it up (basically just wrapped the wire around the connector and covered it).

Also could bad speaker box terminals possibly cause the amp to go into protect? I have jiggled the wire going to my passenger side speaker around and got to to come out of protect (only after the truck is restarted). This might just be a coincidence thought.

The amp goes into protect, you have to shut the truck off (essentially turning off the radio) restart it, to make it come out of protect. Everyonce and a while this is all it takes.

Any suggestions?

most likely bad wiring

if theres things you suspect may be wrong, do them over, correctly, so you can rule them out

also, what impedance are you running the amp at?

also, the remote turn on from most headunits is a fairly 'soft' 12v (low ampere) so a bad wire, corroded connection, or a loose, or jury-rigged connection causing even a little added impedance could cause significantly dropped voltage

i had problems with my 1606 going into protect at 1 ohm, turns out it was just getting too **** hot

Amp doens't feel hot at all, it also happens even when vehicle has been parked for a while, so its not always after prolonged use.

also, what size wire do you have going to the amp?
power and ground

1/0 coming from battery, 4 gauge going to amp, 4 gauge ground.

ah, possibly a bad ground, the remote problem, a bad channel, a bad speaker terminal, poorly grounded rca's......

unplug the speakers and the rca's, and see if it still does it

yeah, if the outer jacket of an rca cable is loose, and not making solid contact, it will send the amp into protect

Tomorrow a.m. I am going to re-connect the remote wire properly and see how that works.

If that doesn't work, then I will start looking at the RCA's and then the speaker terminals.
