Amp goes into Protection mode

Hey, I have a 4 Channel Legacy 800w amp. I know it is not the best amp but it is what it is.

I am using a 4g power wire and a 16g speaker wire i think. The standard speaker wire size for my door speakers. I have 1 sub bridge on the 3 and 4 channel. And i was hooking my door speakers to the 1 channel.

I am also using the Y adapter for the RCA cable so i can make all 4 channel works. When i use the Y adapter thing to make channel 1 and 2 work my amp will go into protection mode when i turn it up over 22. But when i run the RCA directly into channels 3 and 4 for my sub it wont go into protection mode..

So basically it goes into protection mode when i am using the Y adapters so i can make the other 2 channel works. I am wondering why is that?

its possible that the speaker wire going to your front speakers may be touching metal or the + and - connections are touching each other. sounds like every time you try and hook up channel 1 your going into protect, so there must be a problem there. try not using the y adapters and hook up your rca directly to channel 1/2 and see if it goes into protect. if it does check all the wiring and connections. are you using crossovers for the fronts? they could be ****ed....

also, do all the obvious things, like check your ground's, and your y adapters.....

Well i have changed my front speakers also. But what is crossovers?

There was nothing touching and everything looks fine. Just when i have 2 RCA cables into the amp it goes into protection mode. When i only have 1 RCA cable it is fine. That is weird. And it only goes into protection mode when i have the car on. If i am just sitting with the music on with the 2 RCA cables in it will be fine.

The deck i am using is not a real good one. It is a Dual so it doesn't have all that high tech features other decks have.
