Amp Goes Into Protect, But Only In The Morning

For some reason my amp goes into protect some mornings and then will play fine a few hours later. It only happens some mornings though, not all. Any ideas why this could be?

What amp?

And what voltage does your alt charge?

Alts will over-charge when cold....so, your amp may be getting higher than 15v and jumping into protection.

Unlikely...but possible.

its not significant difference in temp...like today when i left for work it was about 70 and the high was low 80's....i dont think tahst too drastic is it?

amp is a Cadence TXA-6004....i dunno what my alt charges at but its a 200 amp alt from mean green

no my amp is not in the spare tire well....i have a 1998 jeep grand cherokee....its installed in the cargo area

it hasnt always done this either...jus started in the last couple weeks

Check your charge voltage one morning. I bet its alot higher than usual.

For example, my alt charges at 14.6-.8v when cold...13.8-14.2v when warm.

Your alt may be charging at 15.5+ when cool and shutting the amp off.

i dont what it charges at exactly but i know it doesnt get up THAT high....i know it isnt perfectly accurate but the meter on my 880prs shows it charging between 13.1 and 13.4 when warm and from 13.6-14.1 when cold

it happened again today...jus went out to check if it was working again n it is....also, i installed my 20.1 and rl-p last night and the 20.1 stays on and runs just fine but the cadence has its little mood swing....this boggles my mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
