Amp getting hot??

I haven't felt my amp before today but after work I got in my car and started my music, it wasn't loud by any means. When I got home I happened to feel the amp and it was hot as hell when I felt it. I live in Georgia where it was 90 and sunny in the back of a closed up car with tented windows. Could the heat be from the temperature outside and wouldn't it smell burnt at least a little if the amp was too to touch? This is a used amp I just bought.

Is it too hot to touch? Or is it just hot? Mine get hot in the summer, mostly from the heat. But I can still touch them without burning myself.

What amp is it? And what gauge wire are you using? What impedance are you running it at? Where is your ground located, and is it clean?

I can hold my hand on it, I mean it isn't smoking or anything, but it is very warm, at least I would define it that way, Orion 2500d, Dual 4guage off of a 1/0 distribution block, 2ohm, Ground is located on the body right BELOW the seats, not hooked to the seats, and as far as I can tell it is clean I mean I used a wire brush before I screwed the two grounds to it.

Yea, that's how mine is. Very warm, but I can hold my hand on it. I think you're fine, I think it's just the heat. I may be wrong, but from what I've read around and heard from others, it's not an issue. It's just a by product of the amp working, and it being hot outside. dual 4 gauge off a 1/0 block should be fine, as long as it's true 1/0. Though if I remember correctly, the Orions do tend to pull a bit of current. Do you have adequate electrical for it? Have you checked to see if you're getting a lot of voltage drop?

Well as far as I know yes since it is only 1700wrms @ 2, but I haven't checked the voltage, I have the scorpion digital distribution block, is that voltage dependable? Though right now the box is tuned at around like 20 so I can't play songs with it bumping lol
