Amp gets really hot?!

Should i be okay to run my subwoofer at 15 if i set it with it at 0? I have a alpine deck, when i turn it up to 15 it doesn't getvery hot and it does not distort.

 
Okay so i looked around my battery and i couldn't locate what wire grounds to the body but regardless they are all small wires should i add 0 ga from my batt to the frame of my car?

 
ANYONE, amp is still getting hot i am POSITIVE its to 2 ohms, i put it up off the floor with little pieces of wood. I set my gains with a 40 hz -3 bd tone and i had it all set to 0 on the deck when i did it and the volume was at 23/35 it did not do this till i got bigger speaker wire... i am so confused. I have not done the big three or anything.

Are you talking about the setting on the h/u? If you are, set it at 15 and leave it there. That could be why it's still overheating.

 
When i did that its not loud at all like you can barely even feel it, i had a 500 watt amp on some walmart subs and it was louder then when i set it like that.....
