amp for xr650's

hey im going to be getting some jl audio xr650's for x-mas and im looking for a good amp for them. i was looking at some kickers but all the specs are listed at 2 ohm and the XR's are 4 ohm... someone help?

Just divide the Kicker specs in half basically. You could easily run 150-200watts per side on them as long as you use the power intelligently

I guess I will be the first to as the all important question: WHAT IS YOUR BUDGET!?!??!?!?!

find a used jl 300/2 on ebay. bulletproof amps, great quality.

it is far better to have more power than you will ever need than have the amp straining and clipping the shit out of the signal to try and make enough power for the components to do what they want to. there's nothing like sick amounts of headroom //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I agree whole hartedly!! The only time you can have too much power IMO is when you really are spending money you really don't need to bring your music alive. That said, there's a guy on SD selling an Eclipse pa4212 two channel, new, that does 130x2 @ 4 and will really make those JL's sing. It is right in your price range. You would need to use your head units x-overs as that amp only has a LP and a SSF.

what about a kicker kx350.2 it does 175x2 at 2 ohms so that would be about 87x2 at 4 ohms right... would that work pretty good with the jls or should i go more power?

it's more than just getting power to them... you want CLEAN power. the kicker doesn't really fit that description
