Hopefully this is in the right place.

I'm looking for an amp in the $400 price range to power my two Kicker CVX 12'' 4ohm subs, I was thinking of going with this "Alpine - 1000W Class D Mono MOSFET Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover".

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8699367&st=alpine+amp&lp=5&type=product&cp=1&id=1199494646259

To be honest, I'm kinda scared of "no name" brands (then again, I have no experience with car audio). I've had a few suggestions including an "Audioque 1200d".

I was also suggested this Power Acoustik A2400DB mono amp:

The local stereo shops sell Kicker amps that seem to be out of my budget at around $500-600 but this is probably what I need. I'm not looking to be the best in show but just to beat down, I was quite content with my old CVR's and Kicker 450 watt 2 channel. I'm now realizing I probably should've gone with 2 ohm subs with my budget but my plan is to buy the best I can at around this $400 price range and then pay to have my system installed at one of the local shops or at Best Buy.

Please help! I haven't had a system in almost a year and I miss it very much. The 450 watt amp is now fried because of my stupidity and the fact that it can't handle my subs in the first place doesn't help.

If you suggest a brand I haven't heard of, please explain to me why it's ok so I feel safe dropping the almost half a G on it...I'm a little worried I'll spend my money and regret it.

Thank you all very much!

Edit: It'll be safe to add that I don't know the difference between ohms or if there is a difference between dual 4 ohm and 4 ohm, I don't know which of the two I have but I know that they are 4 ohm.

Get a sundown SAZ-1500. There is some guys with some on here in the classifieds thread. And you want an explanation well be cause that amp is true power it is a 1ohm stable amp and that is what you D4 coil cvx's will wire to. Also cus that amp can handle low voltage situations with ease which is gonna be a factor in your case cus im sure you dont have upgraded electrical with your story. That amp will be around 350 to 400 shipped. You wont regret it (and the cvx's will love that power on them). If you have more questions throw me a pm.

Well, I looked up amps after reading Taurus' post and Sundown does seem to have a good rep. I couldn't really find a new 1500d around my $400-450 price range and I'm wary of buying a used amp. I did find a Sundown Audio SAE-1200D for $250 which would be great for my price range but I'm not sure if it'll work well. If anyone can find me a good priced 1500d or has any comments on the 1200, that would be awesome.

Edit: I guess if I was going to go one step below, the Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D would be better, huh?

I found a new one for 450 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think I'll be getting this a couple days from now. You guys absolutely sure this will slam my cvx's? I can't wait!!

Also, just to clarify...I'm driving a 2003 Lincoln LS. I miss my truck as far as audio goes...

Edit to add a question: Should I face my subs toward my taillights or the cabin...and should I lay the backseat down?

aq1200d, makes my subs wang, oh their cvx's too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
check vids in sig.

That's sick dude...**** now I'm torn..but I like the things I've read about the Sundown and it does provide 300 more watts.

Just a side note, bro, I don't think you're supposed to show your liscense plate number like that..don't exactly know why but it's probably something to do with privacy so you probably don't care like me lol

lotta people do, i could care less anyways

i wish luck to whoever tries stealing anything out of my vehicle, considering your gonna need 4 different socket wrenches, about 1-2 hours of time, and a wide vocabulary of swear words cuz its a PITA

and the aq is a lot cheaper, and the extra 300watts prolly wont be noticable by the ear, was just an idea.. up to you though, just saying cuz the aq is only 229 shipped... but the sundown is a very nice and clean amp, its your choice though.. figured i could save ya a couple bux //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hmm **** dude now i dont know what i want lol

What about the AQ2200D or am I getting greedy?
cvx subs cant really handle more power than their rated for.. i started a thread long ago about upgrade to the 2200d.. where the gains would be set before clipping the subs would be getting the same watts, +/- 100-150 per sub which wont make an audible difference to the ear... so people told me on here a while ago..

but it all just depends on the install.. the 2200d would be fine but make sure you would set the gains correctly though.. would also give you something to upgrade your subs with eventually too

Hmm so I guess it comes down to AudioQue 1200D vs Sundown 1500D...

Might just get the 2200 in case I want to upgrade down the line..plus I'll get max power out of my CVX's, right?

Edit: Pretty set on the AQ2200D. Will the high power damage my subs if I have it professionally installed...what's the risks with getting the 2200?
