ok, so im planning an upgrade soon and i need help deciding on an amp. id like to get an amp that will run 2 3-way componant sets and 2 2-way componant sets plus a sub. but im getting an amp for my sub in a few days so should i just get a seperate amp for the componants?

Matt

I've got a Hifonics Zeus that I'm going to be doing the same thing with. Going to have it running my sub off of 1 channel (500W @ 2 ohms) and then have the 4 door speakers wired parallel for a 4 ohm load on the other.

I've heard you can put a high and low pass filter into the lines but I really don't think it would matter because if I set the filter at full the sub is only going to play the frequencies it can play and the speakers will only play the frequencies they can play so I really don't think its necessary. Yea I might not be getting the absolute best sound because of the extra filtering but I don't think it will hurt anything. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

get a seperate amp for a component..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif WHY ???

idk, i was looking at getting sperate amps so that i could have more choices. if i go with a 5 channel then im slightly limited on sub choices. if i want to run 2 subs in the future 500w may not be enough. i do like the simpler install of a 5 channel tho...

Matt

Ive got an MB Quart 4 channel that would let you run 2 speakers at either 100 watts (4ohm) or 200 watts (2ohm) each, then 1 sub at 400 watts (4ohm).

Here's a link if your interested

Btw, it has separate crossovers for each set of channels (variable on frequency and type), so you can set your speakers with a HPF, and the sub with a LPF.

Uh... The speakers will try to play all the frequencies... Won't they distort and sound pretty much awful...? Think of a 6.5" speaker trying to play down to 40 hz... Or a subwoofer playing what a tweeter puts out. (IDK what frequency tweeters play at... I want to say somewhere around 10,000 hz...)

get a 5 channel amp. they make them with a smaller class D section just for powering subs. There was a viper on ebay that had 600 watts powering the subwoofer and the other 4 channels were getting 100 or 200 watts each of class a/b power.
