Hey! I just bought my brother a new sub for his car. I got him a Polk DB1240DVC. It's rated at 360 watts RMS. I'm looking at a Rockford Fosgate Prime R500-1 amp to power it with, but I'm not sure if 500 watts would be too much power. We are going to run it in parallel at 2 ohms. Would this amp be OK on his sub? Does anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Just because an amp is 500w, doesnt mean that you have to use the 500w...just scale back the gain slightly. That amp will do fine with that sub. Polk makes some great sq products, but that sub isnt particularly overbuilt. Be careful with the gain

Thanks for the advice! That makes sense. I have another question though. If we put it in a ported box, what would be the best frequency to tune it to for that sub?

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.

Pretty much. It's just a nice kit. A solo rite Scarlett 2i2, XLR mic and a loop back cable are my next purchases so I can get accurate phase...
