Amp for component set

I've got a 3-way MB Quart component set in my 4 door dodge ram and am looking to upgrade my amp that's been powering them for the past 6 months or so. The power specs for the speakers are as follows:

I've got a set of 4 inch mid ranges and accompanying tweeters which rely on between 35 - 80 watts of power.

I also have installed 6 1/2 inch midbass drivers in each of the doors in my truck which are listed with a power handling from 90 - 170 watts of power.

So each channel needs anywhere from 125 - 250 watts of power.

I'm looking for a high quality amp, my whole setup is aimed towards SQ and I want to keep that most definitely.

Any recommendations, mucho appreciated.

I've only worked with a few brands of car audio gear, and Lanzar isn't exactly on my short list. Looking around on here though they seem to be on the budget list, which to me means that the quality isn't up to par per se.

Any others? lol

I've got a Zed Audio Deuce w/ BB upgrade that I'm selling, PM me if interested.

If you aren't interested in a used amp I would definitely recommend picking a Deuce up from SoundSolutions or from Zed Audio directly. I doubt you'll find a better two channel amp for the money.

What part of "Zed" did you miss about that older Lanzar amp?

Zed Audio was formed in the summer of 1983. The company began building product during October of that year. I had been exporting car stereo amplifiers to the USA for about 2 years, prior to my coming to settle here. The company forwhich we were designing and manufacturing was Hifonics (you remember all those funny names…Thor, Odin, Zeus, Colossus) they were the trademark of this company. Amplifiers in those early days of car stereo were usually hampered by low power, ugly cosmetics and unreliability but not necessarily in that order.

My background was in professional sound and recording studios. High powered amplifiers were not new to me (see The history of myself) on this site.

During the early 1980s the power race in the car began just as in home stereo during 1971. Zed was the first company to build a 200w per channel car amplifier in December1983, this was the first generation of Hifonics Zeus.

1985 we built the first true 3 band parametric equalizer in a dash mount chassis.

1986 we built the first one third octave equalizer.

1986 we built the then highest powered amplifier, Colossus, at 600w per channel.

1986 we built the first multi-channel amplifier with on board variable frequency crossovers.

1987 we built the first 6 channel amplifier with on board variable frequency crossovers.

During the next 20 years Zed manufactured for several car audio companies as well as some home stereo companies. I also produced guitar amplifiers for awhile but the music industry was not one in which I wanted to remain so I opted out of that enterprise.

You are limiting yourself if you don't consider used gear. There are a lot of awesome amps floating around out there and they don't fetch nearly the money they should (Linear Power, PPI, Planet Audio, Soundstream, Adcom, Nakamichi, etc.)

I would put a jl300/4 to the midrange and tweets and a 300/2 to the midbass. It may sound excessive but Im running a 300/4 to 1 set of comps and would need more power if I were to add midbass drivers.
