I'm in the beginning stages of designing the subwoofer portion of a system for a 2004 Dodge Ram quad cab. I want to maximize the room I have under the back seat. I think I want to go with this box made for the (2) Kicker 10" L5's or L7's.

The L5's are more in my budget, and they come in 2 or 4 ohm DVC. Each speaker handles 450 Watts RMS. Most people say to get a mono amp for the subs. I think I understand how to present proper impedence to the amplifier. If I decide to go with the 4 ohm DVC, I wire both VC in parallel, then both speakers in parallel, and I get a 1 ohm load, right? I heard to get the most out of your speakers, wire them in parallel, not in series.
My real question is, should I go with a mono amp rated at 500 watts RMS @ 1 ohm, or 1000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm? If the two speakers are wired in parallel, do I need 900 watts RMS or 450 watts RMS?
Or should I just get a stereo amp rated at 425 watts RMS per channel @ 2 ohms...if I wire the VC's in parallel and present a 2 ohm load at each channel?
I was thinking about getting the Kicker ZX850.2, but it is real big...like 23.25" long. I have about 15" by 11" of space to work with under the front seat.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
