Thanks for reading,

I have a 12" Type R 500Watts RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif In ported Obcon box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The amp i have now is under powering it major //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Current amp is Mtx Thunder 6500d i would like specs on this. And how under powered my sub is. 60a fuse as the amp needs 75 and i'm scared if put a 80a i may fry my amp :O

What is a better amp i can buy for cheap that will power my sub to its full potential //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

MTX Thunder 6500d:

250 watts rms @ 4 ohms

500 watts rms @ 2 ohms

If your sub is 4 ohm dvc and it's wired to 2 ohms, the amp should be powering it adequately. If it's a 2 ohm dvc, you'll need a different sub or an amplifier that's 1 ohm stable...

How do i know if the sub is 4 ohm dvc and wired to 2 ohms.

I'm new to this i'm trying to learn more as i go on

The sub is 1500watt and 500 rms.

I want to show that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Look at the model number or check the coils with a dmm. Simple.

If it's 4 ohm dvc, wired to 2 ohms, it'll look like this:

Take note of the +s and -s in the diagram. Yours are all on one side of the subwoofer, but the wiring will be the same (+ to + to the amp, - to - to the amp.

wouldn't that mean my 12 is getting 1000watts, when the sub is 1500watt and 500 rms.
No, it means your sub will be "getting" 250-ish watts if it's wired to 4 ohms or 500-ish watts if it's wired to 2 ohms. MAX ratings don't mean squat, bro...

How do i know if the sub is 4 ohm dvc and wired to 2 ohms.
if it is wired paralell, with all + leads going to + on amp and all - leads going to - on amp (if your sub is dual 4)

and wouldn't that mean my 12 is getting 1000watts, when the sub is 1500watt and 500 rms.
that makes no sense...your subs is getting whatever the amp is sending, roughly 500 if its at 2ohm and 250 at 4...

if your sub is dvc 4, i know for a fact that amp can more than sufficently push your sub if correctly wired

Sorry i'm so difficult!

How should i have my sub wired?

It distorts bad on lows like to juicebox //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, i have a video of my sub in action

Link to video ---->

I thought it was just underpowered but if it should be be sufficiently powered then its probably wired wrong

Dude, if you can't tell us the model # of your sub, we can't help you. It's as simple as that...

If the sub is 4 ohm dvc it isn't being underpowered (assuming your wiring and voltage are okay).

you may have the subsonic set way below box tuning or the sub could just be bottoming out...it doesnt seem to be flexing very far tho, and i know at 2ohm that amp would push that sub pretty good so my guess is that something is wrong with the install

How should i have my sub wired?
he provided u a diagram

that sounds like you have one coil hooked up...that is kind of the way to wire in series, but depending on terminal placement if +/- of coil 1 are wired, and +/- of coil 2 is going to amp, then only one coil is hooked up...to wire series, you need the +/- of opposite coils to be wired to each other

My sub has 2 +'s and 2 -'s and i have one on a + and one on a -s closest to closest. and - on sub to - on amp and + on sub to + on amp.
+ to +, then to the + on the amp

- to -, then to the - on the amp

If the sub is a 4 ohm dvc, that'll be a 2 ohm load and your amp will produce around 500 watts (maybe a little more).

Again sorry i know so little about all of this!

so i need to use all of the +'s and -'s on the sub for it to be a 2 ohm load on the amp? so 2 speaker wires or what after this question i may under stand and if i under stand correct 500 watts out of 1500 watts is very low 1500-500=1000 so lacking 1000 watts my sub could have?

back of amp says 775 watts dynamic power x 1 into 2 ohms 14.4 vdc?

Also. 75a is what the amp needs. if i use a 60a fuse i blow them but if i go to 80a fuse i will fry amp what do i do stay with 60a fuse? i blast my music soo..

I don't know how to make it any easier for you, bro.

- Take a piece of speaker wire.

- Put one end of the wire in a + terminal on the sub.

- Put the other end of the wire in the other + terminal on the sub.

- Take another piece of wire.

- Put it in one of the + terminals on the sub.

- Put the other end in the + terminal of the amplifier.

- Repeat the same EXACT process with the - terminals.

Do you understand?
